Commonly asked Questions and Answers on:
Digital Copies, Plotting and Scanning using the OCE 9800 & KIP 7095

What are digi-prints?

Large format digital prints from the OCE 9800 are not like your every day black & white copies from our competitors. You'll be surprised at the quality of our digi-prints. Digi-prints pick up over 250 shades of gray scale with much higher contrast lines. Every copy looks like an original. We are able to make copies of your plots, aerials, blue lines, old dark originals, photographs and more. They can be put onto bond, color bond, trans. bond, vellum, mylar or clear acetate.

Is there a difference between a blueprint or a large format copy and a digi-print?

Yes. A blueprint will fade in the sun, turn yellow with age and if they get wet they'll bleed together and smear. Your typical black & white copy will peel or flake off and sometimes they stick together.

Using the OCE 9800's copy press technology the image is pressed into the media so it eliminates all of the above problems.

What about light pencil lines or shaded areas, will you be able to pick that up?

Yes. Using the patented OCE 9800 image press technology we are able to pick up light lines, half tones or shaded areas. In fact the quality of your entire set will be more consistent, the image press technology adjusts every page even with dark originals or aerials mixed in with lighter sheets.

My originals are in poor condition. Are you able to clean them up while making digi-prints?

Yes. With our experienced staff using the OCE 9800 we have many options available. Our digi-prints usually look better than your original copy.

My originals are old and brittle. Will they be damaged while being copied?

No. The scanner we use is very gentle. If we think there may be a problem we'll notify you first.

What about making half size copies of single pages or complete sets, is that something you do?

Yes. We can make reductions to a different scale or reduce the size of the page to fit into your briefcase ,portfolio, etc. for a quick reference sheet or set. You'll be amazed at the quality of our reduced copies. Call for more information about this.

My architect made the drawings of my house in 1/8" scale, I need to change the floor plan to 1/4" scale for my interior designer. Is this something you can do for me while I wait.

Yes, we usually do enlargements and or reductions while you wait. Our OCE 9800 has the ability to reduce down to 25% and enlarge up to 400% in one step. The quality of this is excellent including aerials and photos.

What about that ammonia smell?

There is no ammonia used in digi-prints so there is no smell at all.

What type of scanning do you do?

Good question...We are able to scan to file for archiving; this will eliminate the need to keep a large storage area for drawings of finished projects (Just think of what you can do with that extra space).

We are able to scan your drawings into our computer for ongoing projects, then all you have to do is call or fax us an order of what you need, either complete sets or single pages, we'll run them, then deliver or mail it for you. When the job is finished we'll copy your prints onto a CD or any format you prefer for storage. We can also do raster to vector CAD conversions, call for details.

Your scanned drawings can be stored on most formats: CD, ZIP, TAPE or DISK.

Are you able to plot?

Yes. Currently we have three high-speed black & white digital plotters. The quality is exceptional, we're able to plot half tones and shaded areas, using 255 pens, with sizes from .10mm to 6.35mm, we have many options available.

What type of files do you plot from?

We prefer HPGL, HPGL/2.PLT Files, but we can use Group 4 CALS, TIF, GP4 and KIP.TLC files. If you use something else or have a question, please feel free to contact us.
